American police brutality, the imperial boomerang and the coming tyranny.

A thread 🧵 A lot of people in India dismiss American police brutality as it looks like something which doesn't concern us.

But like Lenin once said, "Everything is connected to everything else".

Similarly, what happens in America will have consequences in India.

On deterioration of cities and potential solutions.

[Thread] Tier-1 cities in India are becoming hell because of 3 factors.

1. Uncontrollable dehati migration,

2. Regionalism and linguistic chauvinism

3. Unaccountable local government.

Unless these 3 issues can be fixed, things will keep on deteriorating.

Just had a realisation, Malayali subalts naturally gravitate towards a Tamil-esque low culture.

The popularity of low class Tamil films and the overall ideological trends represents a sort of DMK like anti-Brahminism is just one indication of this inclination. 1/5. The only thing that has been keeping Kerala from degenerating into a Tamil Nadu was the elite high culture that acted as a civilizing force.

Now that the elites have started leaving, their institutions and fraternities have been reduced to old men's clubs. 2/5.

Update.

I've been subjected to hate comments and QTs nonstop since yesterday, just for defending Pasmanda Muslims.

This has been a wake up call for me and I've come to understand the plight of oppressed communities. If I as a UC man of privilege had to deal with so much hate just for one tweet, I can only imagine what poor Dalits and Pasmanda muslims have to go through just for existing.

So I have decided to make some changes and start doing something.

On Party-States

A thread. When I look at states like Kerala, WB and Tamil Nadu I feel that over the long term we are going to see big trouble.

This comes down to the fact that they are able to resist the Indian state's attempts at centralization very easily.

These chaps have an understanding of history which can be best described as a PhD from WhatsApp University.

Half their arguments against Nehru are variations of "Nehru bad because he didn't make India a crypto-colony of the west".

A thread. The 50s were a time of great turbulence and Western Nations were trying hard to get India into their camp.

The gestures were just a small part of the larger strategy. The main goal was to bring back the old British system where India was a sub-unit that served 2 purposes.

I've been rather inactive over the past couple of days because I was staying at a friend's PG and things were hard to manage. The degeneracy I saw first hand was appalling.

Here's a brief background and update on things.

A thread🧵 I decided to make a change in life see how staying with friends would be like. First I moved in with guys from the next class and their PG was nothing short of a literal drug den/stoners paradise.

Intersection of Politics and Caste interests: A case study on voting patterns in Kerala and current shifts.

A long thread🧵 The BJP's recent attempts at trying to win the trust of Syrian Christians in Kerala and the community's shift from the Congress to the BJP has left many baffled.

In this thread I will try to answer why we are seeing such a political shift and what we can expect in the future.
