Named Timoteo Haalilio an ambassador and his minister plenipotentiary along with an assistant William Richards
Kamehameha III gave them the charge to negotiate to path to have Hawai’i’s independence recognized
And deal with an issue related to
Getting the French government to pay the Hawaiian government damages which arose from a French ship firing canons in Honolulu
Timoteo Haalilio and William Richards would left Honolulu by ship on July 18 1842.

Having survived Iniki on Kauai in my early teens on 9-11-1992. A few of the biggest takeaways:
-we didn’t have water for about 1-2 months in our area. We lived near streams and reservoirs which were a big help.
But some additional kupa Aina tactics were, fill up your large outside garbage cans with water if you don’t already have water storage (of course everything you can inside the hale as well)
-a gas stove or even propane BBQ these days can go a long way.

I am hearing our pro-tmt hoa paio are concerned about potential scholarships for kanaka being lost should TMT not be built, my understanding is that these scholarships could amount to about 1 million a year.
