Flooding depends on many factors but what’s truly shocking is the amount of rain falling from the sky. So many such events in the past few days.

Exhibit 1: Zhengzhou, China: year's worth of rain (25 inches) in one day, about 8 inches of that came down in just one hour. Exhibit 2: Maharashtra, India: many places with over 8 inches in one day with some receiving up to 17 inches in one day. So I had a rather unpleasant encounter with the US Border Patrol in New Mexico yesterday. ‘Deportation’ threat several times …for no good reason. 1/ My partner & I were traveling through NM for the past week, & yday, on our way to Albuquerque from Las Cruces, we came across a Border Checkpoint on Rt185 ~100 miles north of the border (didn’t know they existed so far north). When asked if we were US citizens, we said no. 2/
