I recently encountered the oft-curmudgeonly @BernieSanders in a fit of glee.

His source of joy: Dragging his corporate nemeses to DC to be pilloried for their sins against the working class.

On Bernie's Life-Changing Magic of Grilling Executives:
washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2023… Sanders runs his Senate committee like a reality show. The structure: A CEO in the hot seat. The prize: Cross-examination by a democratic socialist.

CEOs don't want to play? Too bad! This host has subpoena power!

NEW: For decades, a political evangelical group prayed with conservative Supreme Court justices. Its founder described the effort as "spiritual conditioning" to lay the foundation for "strong and unapologetic opinions"—including reversing Roe.

with @7im:
rollingstone.com/politics/polit… The leader of the ministry, called Faith & Liberty, said on a hot mic last week that she prays with sitting justices inside the high court.

That may pose a problem for Liberty Counsel, the ministry's umbrella org, which often brings cases before SCOTUS:

Good afternoon!

For those who have just tuned in, you may know I've spent the last year covering the relationship between the left and Biden campaign/White House. I spent two years before that covering the left in Congress.

So, it's a big week for me! Where things stand: Progressives refuse to vote for a bipartisan infrastructure bill until Democrats agree on a $3.5T budget bill.

The White House and Speaker Pelosi are tacitly fine with that—because both bills are Biden's agenda.

So, how did we get here? A thread👇

NEW: Several former @ewarren staffers serve in key Biden administration posts, a peak expression of her “personnel is policy” mantra.

I spoke with Warren about mentorship and how her office’s regulatory focus prepares staffers for the executive branch:
motherjones.com/politics/2021/… What sets @ewarren’s Senate office apart from others is its focus on executive branch oversight —even when her party held the White House under Obama.

Those who rose through Warren’s ranks proved themselves as thirsty for “blood and teeth” as their boss.
