I keep thinking about the time my book Rhyme Schemer was a One Book One School read, and how, even though an entire day of presentations had been scheduled, I was asked to present to only one small group instead of the whole school. I later learned why: parents had complained 🧵 The problem for those parents was that they couldn’t cancel my visit, or denounce my book for “grooming” or anything ridiculous like that. Rhyme Schemer has no LGBTQ content. But, my actual self does. I am living, breathing LGBTQ content.

I know everything is so terrible we have to, like, triage it so that our brains don't explode, but I really really need more people to understand what just happened when Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito wrote their 4-pg opinion on Mon, refusing Kim Davis' appeal. Remember her? She refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, was fired, and now doesn't want to be sued for discrimination. SCOTUS unanimously decided she *can* be sued in a civil court, BUT Thomas and Alito came out swinging in the opinion they wrote. They basically said this:

A school superintendent in GA says, "Wearing a mask is a personal choice and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them." Tell that to EVERY SINGLE GIRL who has been sent home from school/forced to change for wearing spaghetti straps or shorts above the knee. I am SO DONE with EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.
