I’m all for reviving community, but to do that it’s essential to see atomization as what it is: a revealed preference. People actually like being alone and chafe at having people scrutinize them constantly, even if it comes with the benefit of support. I think there is a sweet spot, where you have cordial relationships with neighbors and family close but in separate households.

The story of liberal universalism is still believable until something like this happens. Importing a hostile 5th column turns into civil war after a certain threshold, it’s unavoidable. The faith in universalism is here to blame because:

- It sees a failure to integrate outsiders as a failing of the host nation
- It breeds resentment in the new arrivals through oppression narratives

Increasing numbers of people pissing themselves in front of slot machines and accidentally unaliving themselves with synthetic opioids don't affect the upper echelons - until they do. The quantity and quality of things that can rapidly destroy your life if you're not in the top quartile for intelligence and also in the top quartile for conscientiousness have ballooned in the last decade.

The very language that the media runs on - English -, the typical narrative and descriptive patterns...

The right needs to go scorched earth with "groomer" because rarely has there been a more fitting term.

The assumption within liberalism is that there is a constantly updating moral reality that moves at the speed set by the brahmin caste - or "Science" The family can not possibly be trusted to keep the pace of the ever-shifting moral horizon line and is, therefore, a reactionary institution that imprisons children in an older, oppressive moral system.
