A) I've been warning about the dangers of TMZ with respect to what they cover, don't cover, and how they frame "news". Now they're trying to mess with my friend @LisaLampanelli and just like my support of @iamsambee, I'm not going to allow TMZ to do to Lisa what they did to me.
B) Last weekend Lisa did a gig in San Jose and dealt with a heckler which is typical. The guy kept interrupting her act and when she confronted him and said he was getting thrown out (with a refund) he tried to give her $100 to shut up. So this jerk is at her show, ruining it..
C) For people who paid good money to see Lisa and then has the audacity to tell her to shut up. So Lisa, doing what she does best, goes off on him. It's something she always does with hecklers. Someone sent a tape of it to TMZ and this is how they framed it: "Nuclear Meltdown"
A) One year ago today my Trump photo was released. I have planned on doing this thread for a while but the fact that Sarah Sanders brought my name up at the podium today makes it even more appropriate for me to share some thoughts on what happened.
Hope you'll take a look....
B) I am in a position of tremendous privilege. I have access to resources that allowed me to deal with this in a way others who aren't as privileged couldn't have. And that's exactly why I'm speaking out, I don't want this to happen to someone who doesn't have my resources.
C) I get asked a lot by people what the point of the Trump mask photo was...I've answered the question in interviews but the answer has gotten lost in the mix. The image was inspired by Trump's sexist comments to Don Lemon about Megyn Kelly from the 2015 campaign.
A) Not lost on me that I can't get a TV gig or special, despite selling out shows in major venues across the country, because of a pic with a mask and ketchup, and that Roseanne got a network show despite tweeting insane and racist conspiracy theories that she actually believed.
B) The reality is, ABC, like anyone with the ability to see, hear, and read, knew who Roseanne was when they gave her this show. They wanted to get a piece of Trump/conservative world business. So I'm not going to heap praise on Bob Iger or anyone else at the network
C) They knew exactly what they were getting..they were just willing to put any concerns/issues aside for the sake of ratings and money. The question is, why was this the limit? It wasn't enough when she called David Hogg a Nazi? Or when she tweeted racist stuff about Susan Rice?
A) Today was the 20th anniversary of Phil Hartman's untimely death. Phil played a critical role in my life and the lives of many other comics and actors and I want to tell you a quick story.
B) About a week after I moved from Oak Park, IL to Los Angeles (back in the 80s), I opened up LA Weekly to see if there was an improvisational company in LA similar to Second City which is an iconic improv company in Chicago. The LA equivalent is the @groundlings.
C) I went to a @groundlings show alone that Friday night and was so dazzled that afterwords I marched backstage and went up to the funniest person in the entire show and asked him how I could possibly become involved in improvisational comedy.
A) It's story time....let's talk about my encounter at the White House Correspondents Dinner with Mercedes & Matt Schlapp..DC's most spineless power couple. I thought I was done talking about the dinner but learning that @mercedesschlapp stands w/ Kelly Sadler, well...here we go
B) So I went to the #WHCD for the first time this year...I ran into a lot of friends and also ran into complicit and criminal Trump apologists, supporters, and administration officials. Now here's something you need to know about me..
C) I make fun of a lot of people in my act. Most of the time, it's harmless fun and the celebrities I make jokes about usually get it. When I run into people I make fun of in my act, things are normally cordial. But that's not the case with Trump people I make fun of in my act
A) Ok I have some thoughts on @michelleisawolf's act and the reaction to it from members of the press and other DC insiders. For the record, I was in the room last night. @michelleisawolf's set was great. She was hilarious and confident.
B) First, @michelleisawolf took no prisoners last night. She roasted Trump, Pence, White House staffers, the media, media personalities. Everyone is focused on Sanders but that was only 1 1/2 minutes of Michelle's act. She went after everyone...as it should be.
C) @michelleisawolf was hired to do a roast. That was her job. She wasn't hired to offer media analysis or be fair and balanced. She was hired to poke fun at powerful people. Not once did she punch down. She focused on the people/institutions that are powerful beyond measure
