There's a truth about climate change: We can’t stop it. It’s here. The only question is what we do to limit the damage. Today, my colleagues @nytopinion and I are proud to introduce "Postcards From a World on Fire," our latest major project. nytimes.com/postcards In this ambitious project, we document how climate change is having an impact on all 193 U.N. member states. These postcards tell a story about what we consider to be the most existential issue facing the planet. It is also a call to recognize we need to adapt and quickly.

Tonight, @nytopinion editorial board is endorsing Kathryn Garcia (@KGforNYC) as our pick to be the next mayor of New York City.

The choice was an easy one.

nytimes.com/2021/05/10/opi… .@nytopinion interviewed eight candidates for the 6/22 Democratic primary and made our lists about whom we prefer and why. All of the candidates have something to offer. At the top of every board member’s list was Kathryn Garcia.

Today, the @nytopinion editorial board is endorsing @JoeBiden for president. “He has the experience, temperament and character to guide the nation through this valley into a brighter, more hopeful future.” (1/x)
nytimes.com/2020/10/06/opi… To many Americans, this choice might seem obvious, “as plain as the mask on Mr. Biden’s face,” as I write in a special edition of our Opinion Today newsletter. Still, we hope our endorsement will be clarifying to readers. (2/x) nytimes.com/2020/10/06/opi…

John Lewis, civil rights icon, sent me an essay shortly before he died of cancer on July 17. He wanted to deliver a final message to the nation and asked that we publish it on the occasion of his funeral. Today is that day. (1/x) nytimes.com/2020/07/30/opi… His aide read me an early draft over the phone, and I couldn't help tearing up, thinking of the grief I knew would soon arrive for those who loved him. We began to plan our editorial in appreciation of his life, written by the incredible @BrentNYT. (2/x) nyti.ms/39Pesoh

If you'll indulge me a thread: We’ve spent a lot of time talking about what we stand for in @nytopinion following our publication last week of Tom Cotton’s Op-Ed. (1/x) nytimes.com/2020/06/12/opi… The upheaval that followed Senator Cotton’s Op-Ed has generated a necessary dialogue about the dangers and merits of creating a forum for debate in a time of political division and misinformation. On Jan. 19, the @nytimes editorial board will publish our choice for the Democratic nomination for president. It won’t be the first time we’ve endorsed a candidate — we’ve been doing that since 1860 — but we aim to make it our most transparent endorsement process to date. Historically, endorsement interviews are off-the-record — meaning nothing said leaves the room, other than the board’s final judgement.

Women in states with new extreme anti-abortion laws could face legal repercussions, not just for getting an abortion but even for miscarrying or having a stillbirth. IVF and birth control may also be under threat. Here's how we know. nytimes.com/personhood. A version of “The Handmaid’s Tale” has been taking shape in states across the country for some time. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

A thread: Today, the @NYTOpinion Editorial Board launches our 9-part series on personhood laws and the criminalization of pregnancy. Couldn't be prouder of this work, put together by an extraordinarily talented team. Please read it. (1/x) The @nytimes ed board has been a longtime defender of abortion rights. In the past we've covered plans to decimate access to reproductive health care, curtail abortions at 20 weeks, the global & domestic gag rule, abstinence-only education + other pressing issues. (2/x)
