Black Americans, & let’s hold hands as I say this:
You can be proud of having Black American roots for generations without being an ADOS, FBA buffoon.
As someone who be catfishing as different ethnicities depending on which Black folk I’m around lmao, I PROUDLY correct ppl about my Black American roots, which go at least 7 generations back through SC & Louisiana. I simply educate & use it as a moment for cultural exchange

If y’all actually respected Black ppl, our plight, & our history, “Rest In Power” wouldn’t be a debate. Because you’d understand what it MEANS for us. Antiblackness tells you to correct us & not listen so much, you can’t even see your own cognitive dissonance
Y’all trynna use a phrase created to empower Black folk who die at the hands of an antiblack oppressive system, for people who not only don’t experience the same oppression, but BENEFIT from it? Even when they USE said privilege to protest or martyr themselves for a just cause??

Hypersexuality & an obsession with purity/celibacy are two sides of the same coin if we really got into it.
As someone whose church had “True Love Waits” ceremony “in front of God” as a teen and struggled with hypersexuality in young adulthood, the pendulum swinging to both extremes shows the same obsession with sexual expression. Neither are a healthy relationship with sex or intimacy

My sis was denied TWICE from the heart transplant list due to “noncompliance.” A 27 yr old BW w/2 kids.
The noncompliance? Not always liking hospital food, missing meds b/c NURSES didn’t wake her up, & panic attacks seen as “aggressive.” She died 2 months after the last denial.
My sister had congestive heart failure due to postpartum cardiomyopathy that was diagnosed a YEAR too late. She spent 5 years in & out of hospitals w/2 kids. She was often seen as rude & aggressive.
All this arguing about “who don’t eat rice” is ridiculous considering A LOT of our food in the African diaspora is either the same or similar.
So here’s some examples of diasporic foods that are the same, similar, or have the same roots:
Before starting:
- I’m showing examples/flags to show diversity but I can’t cover every country or every name of the dish
- I don’t know everything, so please share what you know!
- no stupid diaspora wars omfg

Ppl ask me how I deal with jealousy exploring non-monogamy:
I had to figure out where my jealousy stemmed from. I realized I wasn’t bothered by a partner having a connection with someone else; the fear came from being replaced or abandoned. This changed my whole perspective.
It changed how I communicated what I need in a relationship. I actually don’t want to possess or be possessed by another; I love the freedom & space.
I just need reassurance & to feel our connection is stable regardless of outside connections. & if it’s not, we talk about it.
