9/23 marks the anniversary of Marcos' declaration of martial law in 1972. I was not alive at that time but I am aware of the atrocities of the Marcos family - from the torture of many dissidents to the looting of our country's wealth. 1/n
I remember my mother telling me that except for the curfew, life did not change that much for her. I could not wrap my mind around this. Was this because the commoners in the Chinese-Filipino community like her were apolitical? Or was this the case of ignorance being bliss? 2/n

I got my EpiPen yesterday for USD15. An uninsured person would have to pay about USD600 for a technology that was invented 40 yrs ago. This upsets me.

The cheaper generic version that was recently approved by the FDA still costs about USD100.
My experience of getting urgent care in the US: A thread. Summary of what I learned: 1. Allergies are no joke. 2. Worrying about outrageous healthcare costs is legit. I spent at least one hour waiting for my symptoms to subside so that I won't have to go to the hospital. 1/X
After dinner last night, I felt bloated and had stomach cramps so I thought of taking Alka-Seltzer Extra Strength. Soon after, I developed itchiness. I thought it is just one of those seasonal allergies so I took Loratidine, hoping it will go away. 2/X
