Six years ago, when I was at Coca-Cola, we blew up an idea Australia had toyed with. We made it huge in SA. Last night, I found out that Australia is flighting the ad we shot for the Share a Coke campaign - six years later. The creatives were two young black girls. Let me share We had been struggling to find the right ad idea with the creative partner agency. As a former creative myself, I liked to get involved. My Uber driver who picked me up from the Airport in Durban stopped at the garage to fill up. He poured R80 worth of gas. Just before he started his car, I told him I wanted to fill his tank for him.
Him: How much?
Me: However much it costs.
Him: Are you sure?
Me: Yes. He called the petrol attendant and asked him to fill the car. The attendant reminds him that he just filled for R80. Then he says, almost shyly, “Yigcwalise,” as if he was unsure what to say. “Ubhuti uzokhokha” or what. The is filled up and there is silence and I am on my phone.

Look at the top left corner of this pic. You see that? There’s a physical SIM card and an e-SIM.

We’re currently testing e-SIMs at rain. It’s working like a dream. If you have an iPhone XS or XS MAX, we’re rolling out e-SIMs for you at the of the month. At @RainCoZa, we encourage dual SIM phones because we recognize that sometimes you may want to use another network and we’re ok with that.

This is Bram Fischer. Some may only know him as a road they drive on but this is a hero of the liberation struggle. He was the brilliant lead defense in the Rivonia Trial. He came from Afrikaans privilege. His grandfather was prime minister of the Orange River Colony. His father was Judge President of the Orange Free State.

Bram even played against the All Blacks as a scrum half in 1928. He was set to become the elite of the elite because he would have risen to the Supreme Court.

In 1999, Michael Jackson held two benefit concerts to raise funds for the Red and Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. While he was performing Earth Song in Germany, the bridge constructed as part of his stage dropped with him on it and he continued to sing. The bridge didn’t stop at its pinnacle as it was supposed to during rehearsals and when he performed in Korea. It just came crashing down. He held on to the railing, continued singing while it was falling. His back suffered immense pain.

Many of us know this famous picture of Tommie Smith and John Carlos. But few know the bravery and tragedy of the white guy, Peter Norman. He came second in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.
