Polio continues to be a threat to global health. While wild-type poliovirus (WPV) has been sucessfully eliminated in the majority of countries, including Africa as a whole (although it remains endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan), ➡️ viral transmission via (life-)vaccine derived poliovirus increasingly poses a risk to millions of unvaccinated children, e. g. in Africa (see figures below). Vaccine-induced immunity against polio in Africa is declining – ➡️

➡️ @Jane_Banane__ @Bender_riss Unabhängig davon ist es ziemlich töricht, bei hunderten Mio., ja Mrd. von Impfungen (und exzellenten RCT's etc., die die Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit der Impfstoffe systematisch belegen) so zu tun, als würde man kühl abwägen, obwohl das offensichtlich nicht der Fall ist. ➡️
