A previous thread (below) of mine shows my analysis of original public understanding of the Second Amendment, which I argue understood 2A as supporting the individual right to arms.

But what about the next generation? How did they interpret it?

My research follows a framework called "translation studies." It argues that translations of works are actually analyses, given the number of alternatives in word choices and sentence structure and how translators are steeped in their social, political, and cultural contexts.
