"Lose Yo Job" has become the protest song of the year – as it should – and I'm thinking also about how it continues the lineage of low-income Black ppl going viral for performing a type of Blackness that white ppl readily digest & imitate (see also: Sweet Brown, Bed Intruder) in all three examples, the person at the center of the meme had just been through something difficult or even traumatizing (Antoine Dodson's sister was attacked, Sweet Brown escaped a fire, Johnniqua Charles was being detained)
