I haven't seen much English-language reporting on yesterday's protests in Kyiv. So here's a confusing thread on a confusing topic (picture from @ukrpravda_news) The protest was against the sentencing of Serhiy Sternenko, an activist, to 7+ years in jail for alleged kidnapping. Protesters say the trial was unfair, the judge was a Stalinist and a jerkoff, and the state is targeting Ukrainian patriots.

Okay, so having previously denied any cases of COVID-19 - despite an spike in "swine flu" hospitalizations - the "health ministry" of the "Donetsk Peoples Republic" says 635 are under observation w/possible symptoms. (thread) While Russia has kept its border open to residents of the de factos, the "DPR" is reportedly stopping people from going to Russia - including those with Russian passports, but no registered permanent residence there. bit.ly/39qBVKm

The country’s industrial powerhouse, previously its most densely-populated area, has a 400+ km frontline running through it, pockmarked with trenches and heavy weaponry.
