Unsolicited advice for journalists thinking of shifting to development communications:

- emphasize (in your CV) your knowledge of social issues and relevant sectors
- take online courses (many are free) on social media marketing
- learn social media analytics
(1) - learn how to make simple graphics (via Canva/Photoshop) and videos (even if you just use imovie)
- use as leverage your wide media network and skill for writing newsworthy articles
- highlight your output (I actually list my estimate # of articles and videos produced..
