The Superstition Mountains, about 45 miles east of Phoenix, has attracted folks from around the world. Anyone from gold chasers, to ghost chasers, to hikers, climbers, and anyone who just like to enjoy our beautiful southwest desert. A 🧵 There’s a museum near the base of the mountain, that tells a bit about the history of the area. The Spanish Conquistadors, the Buffalo Soldiers, and the local Pima and Apache tribes all had their roles in their early residency here.

It’s been an amazing week. On #ChristmasDay we found out before Mass that a long time, beloved parishioner we’ve been praying for went onto her eternal reward at 0710 that morning. It was a mixture of sadness and great hope, that with the great preparation Gwen was readying > 2/ for her pending death, that it happened on the same day Christ came down from heaven to redeem mankind. Arrangements were soon made for Gwen, so we could bid her farewell and pray for her dear sweet soul, they were announced on Tuesday. Seeing the times, I saw I was booked >

Like a corpse, the “spiritually dead” might have eyes to see, ears to hear, skin to feel, but they cannot see, hear, feel when God speaks to them. It is the soul that sees, hears, feels, who possesses the senses. All are not purely biological, our souls are what drives us.

#rainbowbridge As I sit here one year later, staring at this same spot, trying to reckon what exactly happened, and why it happened. I recall being told in college by one of my mentors, to “look for the gift” whenever we experience the pain of loss. 1/ #rainbowbridge that was in 1987. I’d already had my share of hard knocks with loss (who didn’t?), but it never seemed to end. Is that a bad thing? No, I no longer think it is.
