This past weekend, I had an experience that really reinforced why Web Performance is so vitally important. We were on vacation in a remote part of coastal Maine. There was limited 3G service, no TV (my kids hated that part), and very slow broadband with limited range wifi. Now, this was great for me, since I was on vacation and wanted to unplug! When I tried to go online & my connection disappeared or sites froze up, I just turned off my phone and picked up a book. When I couldn't look up what time a restaurant opened, it was annoying but nbd.

Hi @LinkedIn despite opting out of the feature in my profile, I got *another* email today that you think I am a fascist mentioned in the news. This feature is irresponsible and dangerous - it is messing with people’s identity and you should disable it before someone gets hurt Your algo can’t even do a text match correctly! my correct full name is IN THE EMAIL and does not match! Where I work and what I do is IN THE EMAIL and is not remotely related to what this person does! I do not live in Washington DC! This project is a poorly executed mess!

Thinking about why I don't tweet about web dev much. It's because I don't want to handle the mansplaining that will eventually come 1/ My friend Laura celebrated the fact that she wrote a book and some jackass "thought leader" told her she didn't actually write a book!!?! 2/
