@BjCruickshank @StFilansDream It can, but the Treaty of the Union is an international treaty, recognised by the world. In order for the treaty to be broken, there needs to be an internationally recognised democratic process.

A Section 30 is the 'gold standard' but, if there is evidence that Westminster has @BjCruickshank @StFilansDream ...has refused to allow that democratic route despite there being a clearly expressed wish for it (and that threshold has been passed with the Tories and now needs to be proved eith Labour)... then a Holyrood plebiscite would be the next route by which every eligible voter...

I've been at 2 meetings, one with Joanna Cherry, another with the First Minister, where the route to #Scottish #independence was discussed. They both said almost exactly the same thing, reiterated at a recent (underwhelming) SNP Hopin:

1/ The Scottish Government has to be seen to have exhausted all possible means by which they achieve independence before declaring independence.
