The @WashingtonPost's Dec. 23 piece on Israeli military action in Gaza after Oct. 7 makes 2 claims:

1) It's the most destructive war of the century
2) Israel attacks hospitals despite their protections.

WaPo is dishonest throughout. Receipts: (1/n) Image Even per the Hamas numbers of ~20k that WaPo uses (more on this below), the fighting in Gaza isn't even the same order of magnitude as other conflicts:

At least 200k died in Ukraine war.

At least 350k died in Yemen war.

So which wars did WaPo mean? (2/n)

CNN claims "new evidence" shows Shireen Abu Aqleh was killed by Israel – intentionally!

Yet @CNN, who just misreported the death of an armed terrorist as a "teen shot", base their conclusion on
*recycled @Bellingcat analysis* &
*terror-supporting Fatah official*.

Thread: Background:
On May 21 @CNN reported the death of Amjad al-Fayed as a "teen shot".

CNN ignored that he was an Islamic Jihad member killed attacking Israel's soldiers.

CNN mentions Islamic Jihad mourned him, but not that PIJ call him a "resistance" member.

"Many Gazans have been killed & barely any people in Israel"

Who is dying in the Hamas–Israel conflict? Here are some groups worth looking closer at:

Combatants killed by Israel

Non-combatants killed by Hamas

(1/n)

#GazaUnderAttack #IsraelUnderFire #غزة_تحت_القصف Image Gazan combatants killed by Israel are the simplest group to examine.

For internal political reasons Hamas, Islamic Jihad et al increasingly proudly acknowledge their killed operatives.

In past conflicts these have accounted for ~50% of Gazan casualties. (2/n) (h/t @Jtruzmah)
