The worst U.S. bottleneck for trucks is in N.J., and it’s slowing delivery of your stuff.

It's at the GWB. And despite the article claiming improvements are on the horizon, there isn't without significant changes.

nj.com/news/2021/12/t… Currently, trucks are only allowed on the upper deck, which has worn it out faster than expected and any accident or delay on the upper deck quickly turns into extensive truck delays since trucks can't go to lower deck.

@mjs_DC No major religion objects to vaccinations. Not Judaism, not Christianity, and not Islam.

It's their BS political belief, not religion. They don't object to all the other vaccines they're mandated to have to attend schools all along. Only this one. @mjs_DC Religious exemptions should be eliminated from vaccine mandates. It's cover to allow people to avoid vaccinating their kids and now adults are endangering everyone with their nonsensical ravings about covid19 vaccines.

So, what's the top news story at WaPo after the deadly storms? It's not the 1/6 coup. It's not Trumpworld's systematic effort to overthrow the govt and install Trump as leader despite more evidence showing how Trump, Meadows, and others conspired to do so. What's the top story at the NYT after covid? It isn't the 1/6 coup. That's buried well below the fold.

GOP is fine with covid killing 800,000+ Americans.
GOP is fine with covid killing 600,000+ Americans who are 65 and older.

They don't care.

These are avoidable deaths.

nytimes.com/2021/12/13/us/… At same time, we're learning just what covid does to folks who survive bouts with the disease - asymptomatic or active illness.

It isn't pretty. These folks have higher mortality rates too.

Some folks out there are going to chastise folks like myself when I point out situational socialists like Massie, Paul, McConnell, and other GOPers in states affected by the extreme weather this weekend. Paul especially. Paul insists on immediate assistance from the US govt, which will happen. When other states, like NY/NJ/CT insisted on the same (and every other non GOP controlled state), Paul threw a fit and delayed aid for weeks and months at a time.

Marist poll suggests 59% of the 600+ people surveyed think Cuomo should resign.

Let's dig deeper into this poll.

For starters, it appears under 10% think Cuomo did nothing wrong, 10% unsure, and ~5% haven't heard.

IOW - about 70-75% think Cuomo broke law or was unethical. 52% of registered Dems think he should resign; 77% of GOPers.

More men than women think he should resign.

Weird.

Public health news coverage *sucks*

Headlines generate clicks and eyeballs, and misinform, especially when stats and math involved. Headline: Data suggests breakthrough covid-19 cases in the thousands.

The reality: Vaccines are more than 99% effective. 5800 cases out of 66 million fully vaccinated.

Opinion | Obeying police has become a dangerous Catch-22. This video proves why. For persons of color - it all too often has violent consequences. nbcnews.com/think/opinion/… via @NBCNewsTHINK It is simply impossible to comply with police demands when their instructions are contradictory: 1) keep hands where we can see them; 2) get out of the vehicle if you're seatbelted.

The moment you try to get out of vehicle, your hands are hidden - a threat to the cop.

Cops murder a black gun, claim it was an accidental use of firearm as cop intended to use a taser, but then come out in full riot gear and get local officials to impose extreme curfew on people who did no crime or wrongdoing.

This is insane. People have a right to be pissed. Not only pissed, but absolutely incensed about police brutality and police ratcheting up tensions by coming out ready for war with riot gear, setting up concrete barriers, etc. That's not community relations. That's adversarial. That's tone deaf.

A friend of ours got covid19. Her husband got covid19. She recovered. He died.

She's now dealing with the financial fallout from his death.

This is a cautionary tale and it also needs govt intervention.

Read on: After he died, she had to deal with not only covid recovery and caring for her family with all the grief alone due to the pandemic, but his death locked up their finances.

Everything Trumpworld does was to enrich themselves. This isn't surprising. It's only a matter of time before we see how much Trump profited from his time in office.

This is all felony conduct. All of it. This is self-dealing and misconduct (but GOP remains fixated on H. Biden). Let's remind everyone that Trump engaged in felony conduct to try and smear the Bidens over claimed misconduct on business dealings in Ukraine. It was always projection like IMAX. Trump *was doing* those crimes while lying about Biden.

NYC hospitals are shutting down elective surgeries. They're worried about getting overwhelmed by cases again.

The last time NYC faced this threat, thousands died in NYC alone within days, and hospital morgues were overwhelmed to point that refrigerator trucks were needed. We're hearing the same story all around the nation:

Hospitals are overwhelmed. ICUs are at full capacity. The 7-day moving average of deaths from covid-19 is firmly entrenched above 2500 and rising steadily.

More than half of California should be in stay-at-home status because hospital ICUs and ERs are overrun.

That's why lockdowns are needed - to save hospital systems from collapse under the strain of cases.

news.yahoo.com/icus-hitting-c… Covid19 is straining every part of the hospital, from the ER to geriatric and oncology departments, to say nothing of nursing staff and doctors in departments not directly treating covid19 patients, because staffing is dire. Staff is being trained/redirected to deal with covid19.

The death of the department store and the American middle class vox.com/recode/2171753… via @voxdotcom This didn't have to end up like this. Serious missteps by Sears and JC Penney squandered mail order advantages - they had the last mile locations, but never turned their catalog into a worthy destination for online shopping.

Lawyers go to court with facts and evidence. IF the facts and evidence of fraud existed, you'd make those claims in court to try and convince the court that the election results were flawed.

Trump's legal team is doing none of that. They're not making a fraud argument. They've repeatedly stated in court filings that they're not arguing fraud. That's because they have no evidence of fraud.

Spewing conspiracy theories on tv isn't the same as proof. It's just conspiracy crap and the GOP base doesn't care about the difference between CT and fact.

Compare/contrast time.

Trump holds rallies among his cult members. Trump doesn't mask, admonishes his staff when they mask in his presence, and thinks masking makes them look weak.

His followers don't mask, don't social distance, and have died after attending his rallies. Biden holds handful of events/rallies: Insists on wearing masks and social distancing. His supporters at these rallies mask and social distance. He's following the best advice of health experts and tries minimizing exposures.

Morons trying to compare going to a supermarket to voting in an election.

Do you go to the supermarket once a year or can you go at any time the store is open, and you can choose the store?

Voting requires showing up at a specific location to vote on the date identified. GOPers have shuttered locations, made it more difficult to vote, and now the idiots who parrot this nonsense think that it's no more dangerous than going to a supermarket.

This is disingenuous bulkshit on a stick.

Democrats better get this one thing through to everyone seeking the presidency and all levels of government.

The GOP isn't playing by any of the rules. They're bending and breaking them at every turn, with Trump violating all the norms, standards, and laws we have. Instead of letting moderators try to get candidates fighting each other, remember the goal: defeat Trump and the GOP.

Everyone polling under 5% who sticks around is undermining those who have credible chance. It adds noise when we need focus.

So, are we already past the news cycle where a Chinese woman who owned massage parlors including the one linked to human trafficking was selling access and opportunities to Chinese nationals at Mar a Lago and other GOP events? Are we past the news cycle where Trump continues to be an unindicted coconspirator on multiple federal felonies for his actions with Michael Cohen (and for which Cohen is going to prison)?
