- Omar reps a D+26 district
- Tlaib reps a D+33 district
- Iowa elected 2 R Senators + R’s to all but two statewide offices. Districts are D+1, D+1, R+1, & R+11
- Winning Dem primaries w/ progressive message is easy. Winning red states/electoral college in a general is not (1/)
It’s not that progressive candidates can’t succeed anywhere in the Midwest, it’s that they can’t succeed everywhere in the Midwest.
Electeds should be representative of constituents. If constituency is moderate—as most Midwest statewides are—candidates should reflect that. (2/)

So for some exciting but ~bittersweet~ personal news: after nearly five years on Capitol Hill, today was my last day as a congressional staffer.
If you’ll indulge me, I have a few thoughts:
First, it has been the honor of a lifetime to work for @clairecmc & the state of MO, alongside the incredible folks in @McCaskillOffice & @SenateHSGACDems. I’ve never met a more dedicated & determined group of people, & I’ll be forever grateful to have been a part of this family.
