Something I've been thinking about: Beau Biden announced his plans to run for Delaware Governor in 2014 and then disappeared from public life. Everyone around him stayed mum about his health but insisted he was still running as he was on his deathbed Biden's camp insisted that his disappearance from public life was not serious, and that he was actually ramping up his work. They didn't even concede he was seeking medical attention until two weeks before he died.

The incumbent mayor of Chicago is in danger of missing the runoff, which is literally unprecedented. More than anything, she needs to answer for why she wants, much less deserves, a second term. 5 weeks out from the election, that answer seems to be "to own my enemies" Image I was always leery of Lori, but she was also my clear #2 after Preckwinkle. At worst, I figured she'd be a good-government liberal (pejorative) who might not give CPD a blank check and free reign. She ran a progressive campaign. She had solid progressive friends and allies.
