A while back, should be last year..I receive a call from my grand ma. She tells me that she has a prescription given to her by some 'doctors' who have been doing a door-to-door outreach in homesteads, conducting diagnosis using a hand biometric scanner then writing prescriptions. Now, her prescription wasn't exactly the same as this...but they seem to be written by 'doctors' trained in the same school.

Now, being a pharmacist, I had to examine the prescription to check on its validity. It turned out to be invalid.

A conversation that we need to have in the pharma sector is the growing number of Miraa users getting Cozepam tabs or cough syrups with Codeine. From those who have patronized my place of work in Nairobi West, they seem surprised when I turn down their request and insist on dispensing Cozepam or Cough Syrup with codeine strictly on a valid prescription.
