Coming reluctantly out of Twitter holiday (literally - crocodiles and stingrays!) in case anyone has not noticed the new AI Regulation Bill that seems to have suddenly appeared.
A (less short than I hoped) thread:bills.parliament.uk/publications/5… Mostly, file under No Big Deal. It places on statutory basis what was merely suggested in the "pro-innovation" White Paper, namely that a new AI Authority (AIA) should make sure existing regulators "have regard to" a no of blatantly obvious principles while regulating AI.

Thread. The cover splash story in the @HeraldonSunday yesterday is a highly confused and irresponsible piece. heraldscotland.com/news/18734001.… It gives impression of representing @ORGScotland s views when ( see below) actually it just excerpts from a now out of date blog piece 1/n A few key points. All apps need hosting infrastructure and most use AmazonWebServices. They are a data processor under the actual & legal control of the NHS in Scotland as data controller. They access only random codes. This is nothing like " giving your personal data to Amazon"

Everyone and their dog will be analysing Bridges in detail judiciary.uk/wp-content/upl… but i just want to make a few quick points 1/n First in many ways this is a win not a lose for the police. Their use of face rec rech ( FRT) has been declared properional under art 8, mainly based on decent deletion, retention , notice and oversight policies as Div Ct observed.U can see y they dont want to appeal!

A very few comments on the Online Harms White Paper - maybe more later This comment must absolutely delight Zucks eyes. No monitoring of private commas! So all he has to do is follow up the strategy already advertised of moving everyone to WA/ Messenger. Could they have been talking to each other? 😀
