THREAD:
This is a love note to my well meaning friends looking for ways to help patients access abortion.
Many of you are offering rooms to someone needing care. it's kind and generous but also, can be really scary for a patient and so let me offer some insights from my work. When people are forced to travel to have an abortion, often they are the most marginalized. Black and Brown folks, low income folks, sometimes minors or undocumented.

NYC FRIENDS: Need a reliable, and hopefully affordable place to convert VHS tapes. Apparently I am one of the only people who has the first 2 years of @TheDailyShow on record. No one seems to have the masters, not even the network. Also, where are the masters and why is this ok?

THREAD: The death of Alex Trebek has a very special meaning to me as watching Jeopardy! together was the way my conservative father and I found respect for each other. I wrote about it in my book and thought I would share the passage as it is relevant on a lot of levels today. I must confess, I also secretly liked when Dad was in the hospital, too. When he was, I timed my daily visits for three p.m. That was the time that Jeopardy! (the exclamation point is for effect and also part of the trademark title of the show) aired locally.

THREAD: Friends. This is my sister Mary. Last month I came to MPLS to become one of her caregivers during her late stage ALS. Here is the harsh reality. Insurance/Medicare doesn’t cover any of her end of life homecare so our family needs help. gofundme.com/f/mary-winstea… Image The cruelty of this disease is made worse by the lack of resources to help someone as enter hospice care. Every expense is 100% out of pocket and because of Covid there are no volunteers or alt caregivers. We cannot do it alone. #ALS

I have been trying to figure out my discomfort with the Times double endorsement, and I keep going back to the old sexist trope "It takes two women to do the job one man can do." It just doesn't sit right with me somehow. How is everyone else feeling? I love all these comments because the feeling I have expressed here isn’t necessarily a hard landing for me, but an initial thought that I wanted to express and get your thoughts. Lots of good takes here. Thank you!

THREAD: gonna be real clear. Do not start a service to help someone w/logistics in getting an abortion simply because you are passionate about helping. It’s dangerous. THINGS TO KNOW: FIRST- there already are organizations that do this. like @MidwestAccess @FundMSabortions and Haven coalition among them. These are networks that have been developed with experts and you should use your enthusiasm and money to support and help them grow.THIS IS SERIOUS.
