#HappyBlackHistoryMonth everyone!

Let's talk about June 1943, the Battle of Bamber Bridge.

During WW2, a number of American GIs were stationed in Britain, including many black GIs.

Being the Jim Crow days, black GIs were not allowed to mix with the white locals. When American MPs found black GIs at a local pub, they planned to return in force to arrest them.

The pub's patrons didn't appreciate being told who they could & could not drink with. Some quickly went home to get their own guns to defend the black GIs.
