Suicide has touched my heart. My first cousin Chrissie, who I loved dearly, was 44 when she shot herself. She lived in Colorado and my family was in California. She left a message on her recorder for police to send her remains to my parent’s home. It was like we were attacked. Next my brother at 36 drank himself to death. Released from a one year stay in the hospital, he was told he could never drink again. He drank 100 quarts of beer and death came from an explosion of his esophageal varices. He bled to death.

This was a most horrible nightmare.

Nobody believed me. A bridesmaid at 18, I was paired with an usher. He gave me the ride home afterwards . On a dark street, he pretended his truck stalled and pulled over. He raped me and tore my dress from breast to hem. I got away through the groves and climbed in my window. My father was extremist, wouldn’t let the doctor prescribe hormones to cure terrible cramping and heavy bleeding. He told my mother taking them would make me sleep with every guy in town.

In reality, I was a virgin when raped.

It is ridiculous that so many Americans are motivated more by hate for their opponents than support for their own party.

“Own the libs” has become the cry from the far right and it overcomes all objections containing reason or evidence.

I used to think it worked both ways 1/ with leftists calling the right names but I have become one who sees no redeeming qualities in those on the extremist right. Why? Because the intellect among them do use reason but they are arguing against Democracy and for authoritarianism.
