What in the Homer Plessy is going on here? 1/ Louisiana has such an interesting history of sports, race, and who is black. I'll just quickly list stuff and get back to my work.
There's Andy Bowen, who was said to be 1/8th black, and did sue for being called black. but we still think of him as black. this is from 1892.

I don't need MLB to recognized the legitimacy and greatness of old Black players. Black fans and players knew that. But since they're doing this, let me add.
1. MLB needs to recognize all the Black players they kept out since the 1880s.
2. pour their resources into helping collect stats and archiving these stats.
3. put an asterisk by pre integrated stats
4. name the racists that Jim Crowed.

The insistence by some black folks in sports media that Kap put aside his special grievances and play, is rooted in the old belief that sports has been good for black people, not just the athlete, and one can’t pass these opportunities up to play. especially since the rise of Jesse Owens and Joe Louis being seen as symbols of democracy, despite the rest of Black Americans being treated as 2nd class citizens, media, black media types have demanded the Black athlete's compliance.
