Unpopular opinion: all those “be nice to clergy this week” posts, almost always written by clergy, are born from extreme privilege, confusion about what our jobs are, and bad boundaries. I know I’m about to become the sword picture, but hear me out.

First, privilege: how many of these posts do you see for teachers and professors at the end of their semesters? For musicians during Christmas? For Jewish colleagues during Rosh Hashanah?
