I foresee being sent a certain WSJ article all week. Just to say: (a) this isn’t the 1st time these overblown claims about Peppa Pig have been made. (b) be suspicious of ling change/panic/nationalist articles esp that don’t quote linguists, (c) read this: amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2… UK kids have been watching US tv for much longer than UK kids have been watching Peppa Pig. And yet British pronunciations have persevered.
Media orgs present unvalidated (& un-thought-thru) claims (fake news!) b/c ppl click. I'd rather RT quality linguistics.
