Straight out of the authoritarian playbook: Trump intends to declare victory on election night before getting the necessary 270 electoral votes (if it looks like he’s ahead) — then claim that mail-in votes are fake, and incite terrorism by his mob of aggrieved white supremacists. When unrest breaks out — like Hitler's Reichstag Fire Decree — Trump will suspend most civil liberties in the US, including habeas corpus, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, the right of free association and public assembly.

This will be the end of American democracy.
