I am so excited about this thread!

I asked a bunch of fellow #Indy500 veteran fans to drop their best race-day tips and advice. I mixed it with my own 25 years of race day experience, and voila! This thread was born. Chock full of Indy 500 protips—it's perfect for first-timers. A photo of the crowd at the Indy 500. You can make out a few families of mixed generations with bright blue skies in the background. Everyone is wearing brightly colored race gear and looks enthralled with the action on the track. The text overlay reads “Going to your first Indy 500? Here is some practical advice from Indy 500 veterans with decades of race day experience!” First a bit of a disclaimer: there are as many ways to “do” the Indy 500 as there are people who go! There is no one right way to approach race day.

Last week, I was showing someone photos of my office, and they said “Wow. I never expected you to be a racing fan.” Image *I* know racing fans are all kinds. Men, women, nonbinary. Old and young. Straight and queer. All colors. All beliefs.

But I’m regularly reminded that people outside of racing still see us as a monolith of old white men.
