Discless consoles suck because
-no 2nd hand games
-no borrowing games
-can only buy games from 1 store
-can’t resell your games
-have to update firmware regularly and agree to new terms of use regularly to retain access to your games.
-unable to refuse game updates/patches “The servers might go down” is the least of the issues. Firmware updates and game updates regularly shoehorn advertisements, tracking, and micro transactions into games and platforms way after the fact and if you refuse to update you lose access to your library.

It's crazy that on PlayStation 3, you can still today purchase hundreds of PlayStation 1 and 2 games digitally, all of which are still licensed for sale and run in 100% software emulation. Literally zero reason that we can't access this library on PlayStation 5. On PlayStation 5 you can purchase about ten PS1 games outright, and 3 others are exclusive to folks who pay for the ongoing PlayStation Premium subscription. Those same games can just be purchased outright on PS3 and then downloaded to keep on PS5. No PS2 games at all, though.

For a few months, Twitch has publicly been getting a lot of praise for changing to a new, much better 55% revenue share on ads played by streamers. But a lot of people don't realize that to get this new better share, we have to agree to a new contract manually every month. But... ... these contracts are slowly getting worse. Twitch now want me to stream 7 minutes of ads every hour to keep my 55% revenue share, and still are going to cut me off after I hit 64 hours streamed this month (my schedule is 80 hours) and drop me back to the old rate regardless.

Someone randomly posted a video on the Nier Automata subreddit showing they found a secret room in the Copied City. So far no one else has worked out how they managed to make this secret door appear. Literally 1 person on earth has accessed this room and we are uttered mind blown This has been an ongoing mystery for over a month since this person just randomly posted “why can’t my friend access the church?”. Today they finally posted a video of what they were talking about and the community is in shambles over this discovery.

This can be circumvented with jailbreaks right now, by the way, on any firmware version 7.55 or lower. Hopefully we can just see future exploits for newer versions as the PS4 moves towards end of life. The issue is that when your CMOS battery dies, your kernel clock goes to 0, and when its set to 0, its "disabled" and stops ticking. You can jailbreak to set it to 1 and it will start ticking again, or, even better, connect to the PSN to set it to the correct time.

This error is because Trophies on PS4 require the internal system clock (the one you can’t see / alter) to be correct, so people cant change their PS4 date/time to make it look like they got trophies earlier than they really did. If your PS4 clock battery dies, all your games die If your system clock resets to zero, the only official way to correct it is to connect to the PSN network. However jailbreaking the console allows you to set it manually.

In P.T., it's common to hear noises as if Lisa is right behind you, or see weird shadows moving around in front of you, but when you turn around, there's nothing there. I hacked the game to allow the player to see behind them without actually turning around and... Also the number of times Lisa has grabbed me and scared the absolute shit out of my while trying to test patches is exhausting. I never get used to it.

Penny asked if I can help her publish her game (it’s just a bunch of maths questions). I have a spare SteamApps credit so I don’t see why not... Would be far from the worst thing on Steam. She has decided she wants to add "remembering what your score is" before she publishes it so I'm teaching her about IF BLOCKs now and making her manually change all her IF statements to BLOCKs. This will take her a while
