For 47 years, the Iranian regime has been waging war against the United States. That war began in 1979, when Iran seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking more than 50 Americans hostagefor 444 days.

I agree with much of this @ElbridgeColby and your concern that we are not taking the threat in Taiwan seriously. But you are wrong about Ukraine damaging our readiness. If anything Ukraine aid is revitalizing our defense industrial base. Some concrete examples: 90% of Ukraine aid money is not going to Ukraine but is being spent here in the United States, creating US manufacturing jobs and hot production lines for U.S. weapons systems. At AEI We identified 122 defense production lines in 65 congressional districts across the country that directly benefit American workers.

The shock finding: Populist MAGA Republicans are actually more supportive of strong U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs than establishment Republicans.

Jack Lew's hearing for US Amb to Israel is next week. As I reported in 2018, Lew told Congress he would not allow Iran access to U.S. financial institutions, then issued licenses and pressure banks to do so, and lied to Congress about what he had done.
