Truly one of my nerdiest use cases for @NotionHQ... developing a skincare routine that works for aging problem skin.
✅ Skin diary
✅ Issues db
✅ Product db
✅ Skincare Glossary (ingredients/terms)
✅ Recommendation engine (rollup based on Issues + Product ingredients) Each morning when getting ready, I create a new entry in the diary on my phone, snap a photo, and plug in any issues. The recommendation pops up for which products to use.
I log the products used and any observations.

A friend of mine recently reached out because he was experiencing some serious stress which was deeply impacting his ability to sleep, and of course, any potential for being an effective person the next day.

“I'm wondering how you navigate these challenges when they come up?” When I find myself in this scenario it’s because I’ve put too much on my plate.

Life is exciting! it’s easy to see possibility & excitement everywhere (especially when you have ADHD)!

But if I don’t temper that excitement with restraint, it quickly leads to burnout.

One piece of advice I would give to indie creators that *seems* really obvious but many don’t really consider carefully enough is to design your business model around your natural strengths.

What do I mean by this? - If you're a highly anxious person, don't create a business that requires 24/7 support
- Don't like being visible? consider higher end services that require less volume.
- wanna sell low-priced digital products? Be prepared for way more marketing output to get that volume.

I’ve been journaling for 1000 days in a row in @NotionHQ AMA Image Here are some fun ways I use my journal:

So @NotionHQ just implemented one of the most ridiculously useful updates to the product that opens up a lot of possibilities. GROUPING.

Here are some of the fun ways I'm using it: Grouping tasks by Focus type: process/immersive. You can even hide one or the other so you're just focused on one at a time without distraction:

How I use @NotionHQ to assist with writing:
• I use a template to quickly apply a number of properties (format, type, status, etc)
• I add a few tags using the master tag database relation
• Rollups pull in quotes + resources related to those tags to get the brain juices going I have an epic dashboard that helps me generate ideas. When I hope any of those content types, there's a content database inside filtered by that type, and Status= idea.

Sometimes generating ideas by "type" is more helpful. Other times, I start at the topic level. Image

I mark my meetings as energizing, neutral, or draining.
I use database relations to link meetings to my people database. This allows me to use rollups so that I can see my energizing people, and those who tend to drain my energy...

Had a great question pop up on most recent video:

"I like the concept of weekday themes, How do you handle urgent tasks and priorities? For example on friday I do my reviews, like you, but many times I have to work for clients as well because of deadlines and coordination"

🧵 I have many thoughts on this question, let's dig in:

1. Over the years I have reduced the "urgent client work" out of my schedule. That means more pre-planning, better boundaries, and better systems. Urgent tasks comes from reactionary unplanned work.

I'm currently going through Randi Buckley's Healthy Boundaries for Kind People program and it is magnificent. Wish I'd had access to this kind of wisdom a decade ago... but better late than never.
I'll be sharing more about what I'm learning and how i'm integrating it 🥰 Some of my favorite notes that I've written:
"What would you like boundaries to mean to you?"
"What if boundaries just actually meant respect? You define what respect means"
"Pushback is part of the process" <-- Boundaries are like a muscle. It takes practice to strengthen.

THREAD. I've talked about this before, and I think it bears revisiting. I remember ~10 years ago thinking to myself that my fear of being in front of a camera or on stage was going to hold me back in business, (and probably in life too) and I *hated* that. Most people are surprised to learn this. They think I am very comfortable and natural in front of a camera. I have a YouTube Channel. I have done a live webinar every week for over a year. But people only *see* the past year; they don't really know what it took to get there.

My @NotionHQ Project dashboard is 🔥. It's SO helpful to visualize projects + tasks in different ways: Ongoing Projects along the top, then Project Timeline, then Tasks by Project, then Task calendar below. Video walkthrough forthcoming... Image The Actions dashboard is more granular. Both are useful in different ways: Image

37 Life + Business lessons learned in the last 37 years, (tagging my Birthday Bestie @MargReffell who also did her 39 lessons post today)! In no particular order: Discernment is a core/essential life + business skill. You will be faced with an endless sea of “shoulds”, and your job is to discover which of those make sense for you. You can learn a lot from coaches, mentors, but at the end of the day, no one knows you like you do.

Something I've noticed when collaborating with teams on client work: many folks don't pick up on the often under-articulated need that clients have to *reduce their decision fatigue.* I never quite realized that I was doing this, and it could be easily misinterpreted as "people pleasing," but essentially, I've always believed that being a valuable team member means making recommendations, curating options, and minimizing the client stress (if possible).
