Five private companies I wish I had exposure to:

- Stripe
- SpaceX
- Epic
- Plaid
- Discord

Historically, accessing these names meant you were a VC or an LP in VC firms.

Destiny is changing that. Here's what you need to know about the "BlackRock of the private markets."👇 1. What is Destiny?

Destiny is a new investment manager building a basket of tech's most impressive private companies.

Its "Tech100" index will give retail investors access to names like Stripe when it lists later this year.

I've written more than 1 million words of business analysis for The Generalist.

It feels kind of weird to give myself credit...but for those that are interested, here are the ten pieces I'm most proud of and why 👇 1. Union Square Ventures (@usv)

Why: I think I captured some of what makes this such a special firm. I also got to talk with a lot of those familiar with the origins which made for a rich story.

What's happening at F.C. Barcelona is one of the most interesting case studies in business right now.

We're seeing a $5B organization, with hundreds of millions of fans, try and manage +$1.3B in debt, all while trying to win championships.

This is how they're doing it 👇 ⚽ Problem 1: Debt

Barcelona has debt. Like a lot of it. Last August it was estimated the club was $1.38B in the hole.

This stopped the club from registering players and threatened operations.

I asked 15 of the smartest crypto investors in the world which projects and trends are worth watching right now.

Here's what they said 👇 1. Toucan Protocol (@ToucanProtocol)

Toucan brings carbon-credits on-chain. This unlocks new uses like using carbon as a DeFi collateral. It's a major player in the Regenerative Finance (ReFi) space.

What makes a great venture investor?

Over the past year, I've studied some of the most successful VC firms of all-time including USV, Y Combinator, Multicoin, and others.

Here are ten lessons 👇 Lesson 1: Come prepared (@coatue)

As outsiders in Silicon Valley, Coatue won competitive deals by conducting extensive research *before* meeting founders.

Arriving prepared changes everything, making for better conversations and connections.

I've stumbled across some fascinating startups over the past few weeks. Some brand new, some more established.

Here are 10 companies I think are worth watching closely, and why I find them interesting👇 1. Lootrush (@lootrushgames)

Lootrush makes crypto gaming 1000x easier. In ~10 clicks and $5, I got up and running on Axie Infinity after struggling a bunch of times before. Extremely intuitive.

As the writer of the article Liron cites, this is an intellectually dishonest encapsulation.

There are ~7K words in the piece, including key context on revenue and other traction.

Helium isn't perfect. But distilling it to a cheap dunk misses everything interesting about it. It's worth noting that skepticism about crypto and web3 is extremely useful. If a technology is to have value it should be tested and examined.

That is not what Liron does. Nor does he seem interested in it.

Anduril may be one of the most important companies in the world.

As 2022 has shown, the age of superpower conflicts is not over. (See: Ukraine, Taiwan.)

To deter geopolitical violence, liberal democracies need strong, modern armies. Anduril is heeding that call. 👇 If you want to jump into the full piece, here it is. Otherwise, keep reading for a rundown on Anduril:

Y Combinator has invested in more than 7,000 startups.

We crunched the data to see how their investing has changed over time. Here are 9 interesting graphs 👇 1. Bigger batches

Everyone knows YC is funding more startups. It has increased its size by ~20% per year. At that rate, YC will be funding ~3,500 startups p.a. by 2030.

DOERS, DREAMERS, & DEGENS:

We're hiring another engineer for Philosophical Foxes! If you're a dev with solidity experience looking to build the next generation of on-chain narrative infrastructure, on a project with 1000x upside (imo) shoot me a DM.

Cool stuff you'll do 👇🦊 Image 1. Build a totally novel serum mechanism

Season 1 ends with "The Somni" -- a mass hallucination.

How do we get our Foxes to dream?

It involves a geo-based drop that I haven't seen anyone try yet.

How can you find the next Solana?

A good place to start is by looking at where Multicoin Capital is spending its time. After all, no one won bigger on 2021's breakout project.

Keep an eye out for 3 themes ...👇 1. Composability
2. Data DAOs
3. "Proof of physical work"
