Apple put the iPhone XR on sale because of price elasticity of demand.

As they split the line into high-end and affordable, people who can pay will always buy the XS lines.

But a huge segment of markets only respond to price changes. Apple has made the least costly iPhone ever and the community is calling them desperate, when it’s just a fricking good deal.

Many, many people who might’ve held onto their aging devices will now leap to Face ID and the gestures, moving most of the market forward.
