In 1920, there were nearly 1 million Black farmers in the US.

Today, there are fewer than 50,000.

Their decline in numbers has not only far outpaced that of White farmers, their share of land has disproportionately shrunk too.

No surprise, institutional racism is the cause. 1/ The history of discrimination against Black farmers is well-documented, and @USDA is particularly deserving of blame. Their farm assistance & lending practices have robbed Black farmers & their families of hundreds of billions of dollars of generational wealth.

(THREAD) The bill now includes 4 months instead of 3 months of improved benefits and more widely-available unemployment insurance to help workers who lose their jobs in this economic downturn. Three days of negotiation = an additional month of benefits for those out of work.
