BREAKING: 15,000 union nurses at 16 hospitals in the Twin Cities and Duluth area will strike beginning Dec 11. Nurses in the Twin Cities and Essentia will strike until the end of the month. Nurses at St. Luke’s in Duluth will strike without an end date This follows a three-day strike in September, which was the largest private sector nurses strike in U.S. history. U of M Regent Steve Sviggum then went on WCCO Radio this morning: "I was just asking a question. I'm sorry some feel the question might be offensive... The simple fact is one number — enrollment — has gone down 40% (at Morris). One number — the diversity number — has gone up 40%" The U of M Regent goes on to say he received two messages from parents about a year ago, "that said that their children will not be attending Morris because the college doesn't feel comfortable to them. It doesn't look like them anymore."
