The first 2025 meeting of Limerick City & County Council's Metropolitan District is this morning at 9:45am.

Will be watching it on the web and probably adding some commentary that nobody asked for.

Feel free to follow along.🧵

#CouncilMeetingThreai New year new whatever, so will try to post the same thread on both twitter and bluesky.

Will be doing that manually, so, as the council lads say at the start of most meetings, "bear with us on the technology".

I don't have an IT department, so...

There’s a meeting of Limerick Council this morning at 10am. The annual budget meeting. Should be 6 to 8 hours long.🥹

Watching it on the web, will keep you updated, will add unnecessary commentary. Thread!🧵

It’s going to be a loooong day :)

#CouncilMeetingThread I once went to a Limerick Council annual budget meeting. Live and in person. 10 years ago.

Slid out mentally screaming after about 5 hours.

Swore I'd never attend another one: facebook warble from the day attached.

Well, here we are again.

There's a Limerick Council (Metropolitan District) meeting this morning at 9:45am.

Watching it on the web.

Follow along if you like 🧵

#CouncilMeetingThread Councillors are arriving in two and threes.

There's a dance in Billy Brennan's... actually, only three of them have arrived and I'm watching council officials sitting at the top wedding table and a few councillor jackets on chairs as they've gone out to the room with the scones.

After spotting those little pricks with bikes (if you spend any time in Limerick, you’ll know the little shits I’m referring to) harassing a very talented busker on Cruises Street, I’d love to know if @gardainfo in Limerick ever respond to a call unless someone’s actively dying. I look at it this way (and perhaps I’m being too simplistic, but I’m a simple soul): if the local Gardaí are underresourced but insist on a formal report from the damaged party before logging anything, there’s a big empty hole in their figures when looking for resources.

It’s time for another Big Stupid Movie Month.

As that new Bond movie (No Time To Go To The Loo) is out, this month I’ll be watching the entire big-screen James Bond multiverse - and including the odd wry remark - before going to see the new one. Image Regular readers - both of you - will know that every year I like to take a week - Billion Dollars Of Shit week - to watch movies from the year, budget totalling a billion dollars, all of which I expect to be shit, and just watch them like an optimistic fool.
