random voice of anger and frustration at a doomed world, the rich & powerful ppl who made it that way, & the masses of fools who cheer them on as they do

The ban TikTok bill DC has been talking about to much consternation is apparently really a trojan horse for stealth online totalitarianism, giving the federal govt unlimited spying power & a total ban w draconian penalties for any online hardware or software they decide The problem of a bunch of 80 year old cold warriors continuing to run the government in the 21st century, never stepping aside unless its for a Bush admin era fascist lawyer appointee, becomes ever more readily apparent when they actually attempt to govern

The real problem with guys like this (Greenwald, Taibbi, etc.) is not that they're grifting the most gullible marks, which is just base level shameful & pathetic... It's that there are real non-NPCs who trust them as 'outsider POVs' and dont wanna see it as its happening, start second-guessing their values, rationalizing reactionary sentiment, becoming alienated from ppl who recognize it. Ppl rly get taken in by this shit.

The Atreus segments of God of War Ragnarok are driving me fucking crazy. They are all entirely linear, there doesnt seem to be any way to skip cutscenes, and some parts are actually on-rails, e.g. you can only walk slowly forwards or backwards along a preset path There's some small parts of the game with Kratos that are on-rails and that pisses me off too, like you cant turn right or left or interact w an object until some character finishes their dialogue, but the Atreus parts are ALL that, semi-interactive straightforward narrative

what kind of insufferable twat calls it "Elon Twitter" "Welp, some of the ppl who were summarily fired by the new owner and his bootlickers (me), causing the company to functionally collapse, might not be eager to enter the Muskiverse"

When ppl on twitter say things are "collapsing" its not just like woe is me doomerism. I mean like my life isnt great & prosperous but it hasnt changed much, im not the bellwether, the bellwethers are all these things building upn that government keeps ignoring, brushing aside How many overlapping crises are ongoing right now? Covid never ended, the government just started mandating ignoring it. Inflation. Housing, worse than ever. Healthcare, worse than ever. Private debt, out of control. Food prices are shooting up, we never solved supply issues.

Baseball teams play 162 games per year and these guys imagine that before every one is a sacred memorial for every veteran in history rather than some shoehorned-in nationalist ritual. remarkable that theres a whole class of freaks who treat it like a religious ceremony A black quarterback took a knee in silent protest of the ROUTINE MURDER of black men by agents of the US state and so many of these reactionary slobs popped out of the woodwork with their fetishization of nationalism the NFL blackballed him. American society is dumb & deranged

While we talk about how the police were so inept, indifferent & concerned only with their own safety so they let children die, and have since spent consecutive days lying & changing the story, remember that these are the same guys who would be asked to enforce new gun controls In a sane country with a functional government it rly wouldnt be an issue to implement some reasonable gun control. In the US it would be an excuse to give police more money and an excuse for police to terrorize communities of color

Try to think of the logic Democrats use to support right wing Democrats like Manchin & Cuellar. "We have to support the right wing Democratic bc no one else can win" *have literally never tried in earnest & block progressives with strong support from running* "We need their vote in congress" *routinely vote against the Democratic agenda as if theyre whipped by the GOP, even when they are the sole vote blocking Democratic policy* It's a bad fucking joke.

Feel free to remind all the Vote Harder ppl in this moment of all the tweets from Joe Biden's account about hiring more cops for "public safety" and diverting covid funds to hiring cops after they stopped doing covid response while covid was still ongoing, or... Or how party leaders at this exact moment in time had been fighting to save a corrupt, pro-NRA, anti-abortion Democrat from a primary challenge and won by only 200 votes, or just any of the litany of current examples that voting for Democrats solves none of this ever

this country is psychotic. The federal government doesnt do jack shit. States are responsible for schools, so the govt just says "not our problem" and lets education be destroyed, state by state, while pushing privatization in a country defined by inequality. Everything is just going to keep getting worse, with everything. There's no plans, no leadership, no organized political pushback whatsoever against reactionary agendas or capitalist exploitation.

It's just fucking doom all the way down.

Now ppl are getting mad at me for saying that catching a disease, getting ill from it so you that stay home until youre forced to come back to work, and transmitting it to everyone around you, isnt immunity, bc it offends the vaccine or something Its great that fewer ppl are dying overall, that the vaccine gives ppl a much higher chance to fight the virus, but there are already variants that are barely being slowed by boosters and are spreading freely among & outside & in between the vaccinated. And there will be more

@fred_guttenberg @AOC @JoeBiden Its inarguably true that it contributed. Voter suppression exists systematically in:
- southern states
- especially in working class communities
- working class communities of color specifically
- and on college campuses @fred_guttenberg @AOC @JoeBiden Which is also a description of the left wing of the party, which is Sanders' base. Voter suppression is designed around defending conservative candidates from left wing/reformist challenges. Whining about "decency" doesnt change the facts on the ground.

In a lot of those weepy white lady threads about how disappointing it is to see Elizabeth Warren failing there's an implication that Bernie Sanders is somehow taking something that SHE earned (rather than her failing to do the exact opposite) and it irks the shit out of me One of the factors animating white feminist Hillary Clinton deadenders' irrational hatred of Sanders was a sense that the presidency was owed to her as a woman and that just by running in the primary he was diminishing her & what she was entitled to

Just want it to be clear to everyone following my account: the results of the Iowa caucuses that took place 5 days ago now are full of such significant inaccuracies that there is not even a question whether the results released by CNN are wrong. They are wrong. The inaccuracies in the results are harmful to every candidate, Biden, Warren, Yang, Klobuchar, and most harmful to Bernie Sanders, who actually won in Iowa by vote, and by caucus delegate math if the inaccuracies are corrected, which they have not been.

Sanders-hating centrists are the only kind of extremely online weirdoes I dont even have the slightest grudging respect for they arent even like kinda clever or witty, they just paraphrase a handful of disingenuous pundits. they arent irony poisoned in an entertaining way, theyre absurdly cynical at their core while also being naive and credulous

As often happens, a couple of the topics I was tweeting about kinda converge into one larger topic. Here I was talking Cuomo, a right-leaning corporate centrist if there ever was one... Then heres a tweet about how centrists in Europe & the US are extremely authoritarian, second only to the far right
