Another shocking problem under current @MEAssociation management is the payment of trustees.
Trustee roles are strictly unpaid, but here we see that the board (Riley, Sheperd, Ewan, etc) decided to give contracts to trustees against their Articles of Association.
Those companies appear to be "freelancer" companies - aka "Personal Services Companies".
They have 1 shareholder.
Many freelancers use these to manage billing. I have one.
Payments made to these companies are, in effect, payments to their shareholders.

This is perhaps a week for some hard truths about the ME charity sector - here are a few:
• The ME association is/was sitting on £millions of excess unspent donations.
It has a war chest that could create a great charity if well spent.

Those excess funds cannot be justified by the need for reserves, or ongoing research commitments. It is simply financial mismanagement.
The ME-Assn is simply stockpiling cash, and has done so since around 2014.

Many have commented already, but none have mentionned 2 *major* issues Prof Peter White seems to have omitted.
Of 8 points in @JNNP_BMJ piece, two are simply false.
1) PEM was not a new requirement in the 2021 GL. 2) A key study did use fixed-increment GET.
