🧵 Open-sourcing a ton, speaking at conferences and working with clients for over a decade, I often was asked: "When do you find the time?". Reality is that for first 13 years, I've clocked in 60-80h work weeks.

But let me tell you, it's not all it's cracked up to be. My wake-up call came in a year of peak earnings. Reflecting back on that year, I could only recall a handful of truly joyful days amidst the sea of work. It was a stark realization - I was sacrificing my life at the altar of overwork, but for what?

❣️How can you build your feature faster? ❣️

💻 It should start with workflow:

🤔 How am I going to test my changes quickly ⁉️

I like to start by making a module for my feature, not only will it allow me to compile faster but it will give me better/cleaner API integration

If my feature is not visual?📊

🧠Default to TDD/BDD

- it gives me very fast iteration loop
- helps me define all the scenarios I expect to support
- tests serve as future documentation of how it is meant to work
- my best practices merowing.info/2017/01/testin…

One things that I notice in both professional and personal life is how many people attach their ego and self-worth to being right and not making mistakes.

It's pretty self-destructive, it automatically makes you feel bad when you aren't right and you CAN'T always be right!

It also makes you go into defensive mode whenever someone challenges it, there is a big problem with that.

When you are in defence mode you rarely listen to what people are actually saying, and as such it's really hard to understand their arguments and easy to get angry
