Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) is the subject of an investigation by the Office of Congressional Conduct, according to the House Ethics Committee. Image No indication what it's about or anything.

This seems to be in response to Zohran Mamdani saying the museum has used the word "intifada" when discussing the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in Arabic.

Per Wayback, looks like they used "intifada" (uprising) on their site til mid-2024, when they switched to "muqawama" (resistance). Image
Image
As late as May 8 2024, the site said "intifada."

Group of GOP lawmakers have introduced a bill to repeal the Impoundment Control Act, which would give Trump the power to unilaterally cut off congressionally-approved spending.

Led by Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Andy Clyde, includes lots of Freedom Caucus cosponsors Image Clyde release here:

Rep. Mike Gallagher underscores a political asymmetry w/ House retirements.

10 Ds + 14 Rs are retiring and *not* seeking higher office.

The GOP retiring members tend to be much younger than the Dem retirements. Several are in their prime and deciding it's not worth it. Image This becomes even more pronounced when you consider that Wexton is retiring due to an unexpected terminal illness, while Nickel is being gerrymandered out (and may run for Senate in 2026).

Santos just said in this Twitter space that it "rubs people off the wrong way" that he's so conservative, given that he's gay.

Not kidding. He claims he's "spoken to prominent Democrats who were troubled by the work of" the House Ethics Committee, which released a damning report on his conduct and whose chair has teed up an expulsion resolution for this coming week.

NEW: I asked Feinstein if she’ll seek to be third in line to the presidency.

She said she hasn’t thought about it.

An aide interjected, telling her she already issued a statement saying she won’t seek it.

“Okay, well then, I guess it's out,” she said.

.@USProgressives Chair @PramilaJayapal introducing new progressive House members at AFL-CIO this AM.

elon musk seemingly finding out in real time that advertisers aren't down with unmoderated garbage is cute reminds me of this little analysis i wrote last year!

platforms like Twitter always point to the need to maintain advertising revenue when they make moderation decisions that people on the right don't like

NEW: I spoke with @RepMarcyKaptur — who will become the longest-serving woman in congressional history if she's re-elected next week — about what seniority means to her district, particularly amid broader discussion of "gerontocracy."

businessinsider.com/marcy-kaptur-l… Consider this a follow-on to Insider's "Red, White, and Gray" project, where we examined this topic from a number of angles.

Last week in Ohio, @TimRyan often turned to a Dad joke-like bit about his opponent — what if @JDVance1 was his teenager?

And what if he wanted to go out w/ @RepMTG, @tedcruz, and Alex Jones to burn books at @GovRonDeSantis's DeSantis's house?

businessinsider.com/tim-ryan-donal… After listening to the bit more times than I'd like, it occurred to me that it speaks to a broader reality about his campaign.

Even as he campaigns against the GOP fringe, he can't go hard on Trump, who won the state by big margins in both 2016 and 2020.

NEW: I profiled @JimObergefell, the lead plaintiff in the 2015 same-sex marriage SCOTUS case who's now running for Ohio state House.

Among his supporters: Richard Hodges, his titular opponent in the case, who calls Obergefell a "civil rights rockstar."

businessinsider.com/jim-obergefell… Obergefell's opponent, DJ Swearingen, is a leading proponent of a bill that largely echoes Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law.

SCOOP: Senate Democrats are *also* punting a vote on legislation banning members of Congress from trading stocks until after the midterms, @SenJeffMerkley tells me.

"It's not going to happen before the election."

businessinsider.com/senate-bill-ba… Comes just a day after Pelosi said "we believe we have a product that we can bring to the floor this month" in the House.

.@ossoff with an icy "no comment," while @SenWarren tells me that a delay "further erodes the credibility of this body."

Sen. Lindsey Graham set to introduce a 15-week abortion ban shortly. Big audience section, unusual for your average Capitol Hill presser. @marjoriesba with @sbaprolife is in attendance. ImageImageImage Worth noting that this is largely a messaging effort for now — this kind of measure doesn’t have the votes to pass now, and if the Senate filibuster remains (big if) then it’s highly unlikely to garner 60 votes anytime soon.

Today, Insider is launching its project on American gerontocracy: Red, White, and Gray.

Check it out 👇

businessinsider.com/gerontocracy-u… "In the 1960s, the median age of Congress was 53.7, and it stayed flat for three decades. However, from 1990 to 2020, had jumped seven years from 53.4 to 60.7 years."
