I think the key difference between the Zettelkasten Method, and other approaches to personal knowledge management, is that a Zettelkasten trains you to focus on *claims* as the fundamental unit of knowledge, whereas other approaches focus on *topics*.
These support very different purposes.
Focusing on claims accelerates logical analysis. It’s a form of thinking.
Focusing on topics accelerates recall and repurposing. It’s a form of memory.
