Hey @wendoverpro, I'm really glad you made a video about my hometown system, but I'm wondering where you got the data for this map? It doesn't show any of MA's low-income gateway cities like Lynn, Brockton, or Lawrence, but it depicts Needham and Cape Cod as being low-income? Image The message of the video is great, and I'm really glad you're raising awareness of what the T is going through with a platform of your size. But I think that message does get muddled a bit when basic info is wrong (like calling the T an "Agency" instead of "Authority").

Today it's time to complete a transportation rite of passage: Washington, DC to Boston, MA using only public transit! I'll be doing this in one sitting, with the goal of arriving in Boston at 12:30 tomorrow. Image Logistics for the pedants: I'm defining "public transit" as "any vehicle operated by a public transit agency" - commuter rail is allowed, Greyhound/Peter Pan/Amtrak is not.

Alright, you guys like Greyhound threads - welcome to me trying to get from Philly to Boston for Thanksgiving! They just announced the bus is 15 minutes late already. Around 6:50, a couple people stood up to wait at the assigned gate - this caused a flurry of pretty much EVERYONE, including me, standing up so they could get a good seat!

I'm up at 4 AM today to complete a very important mission: visit all four Amtrak Acela lounges in a day and decide which is the best! Image I'll be reviewing each lounge out of 25 based on these criteria, with each one earning a 1-5 score:
1. AESTHETICS
Admittedly the most subjective one, but this also covers the "vibes" of the lounge - is it a pleasant place to be?

@jackson_betz AND I HAVE BEGUN OUR JOURNEY TO RIDE EVERY MILE OF TROLLEYBUS IN THE USA!!! Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Silver Line - Silver Line Way to South Station is the last vestige of Boston's trolleybus system, and it's on its last legs. Image For those who don't know, a trolleybus is a bus on rubber tires that connects to an overhead wire. Seen here is one of the ones in Boston on its final day of service, March 12, 2022. Image

It's rare that an opportunity arises to take THE 4, but my trip from Wonderland to South Station allows me to take it for a couple stops!

(And yes, I know this is slower than walking, but when else would I get to ride the 4??) ImageImage For those who don't know, the 4 is this insanely confusing rush hour only MBTA downtown circulator! It shouldn't exist, but as long as it does, I'll never resist the opportunity to ride this odd duck! Image

IT BEGINS! I'm about to embark on a Greyhound trip across the US from Boston to Seattle.

3700+ miles. 16 states. 6 transfers. 70 hours - if we're lucky.

This is going to be interesting. Image Here's our itinerary. You'll note some insanely tight transfers in there. My expectations for making them are low, so if we miss them, we'll see what happens! ImageImageImageImage

I'm doing a multimodal odyssey to Newbern-Dyersburg, TN - the least used Amtrak station in TN! I figured it'd be cool enough to livetweet... I started on a SEPTA trolley from 40th Street. I ended up cutting it closer than I did because Google Maps told me to take the 13 - and lo and behold, the 13 is being bustituted, with no alerts to be found regarding that! Ugh... Image

It’s getting increasingly difficult not to be furious at SEPTA’s refusal to try AT ALL during COVID. I used to find their ineptitude somewhat amusing, but it feels like it’s beyond that point now. They close the trolley tunnel every night now for “deep cleaning” but the cleanliness of the stations doesn’t reflect that at all. The impression that gives me as a customer is that the closure isn’t for deep cleaning, it’s just so they can run less service.
