@dgleick I also think we need something more sustainable. We need relational person-to-person organizing. We need to get people more engaged in their civic duty. Not just voting, but in the whole process. A volunteer friend and I made a video series about this. @dgleick It was nothing fancy, but our pitch is that if Americans spend 5 minutes a day, we can make our democracy more healthy. We break down 5 parts of participation. Registering to vote, contacting reps, tracking their record, comparing candidates in an election, and voting.

@usdew I was just talking about this with my mom. I think our country has underestimated how important national dialogue is to our society. The message from the top, the President, can have life and death repercussions. We are seeing that now. /1 @usdew As bad as George W. Bush was, if he had been in charge during Covid, he would have modeled good behavior and the messaging would have been mask wearing, social distancing, and the messaging/dialogue would have been, at an at least basic level, responsible from top down.

I think we should have impeachment hearings, but the Russian interference in our elections is only a small part of the reason why. He has committed so many offenses that he needs to be held accountable and so has his administration. They have flaunted their disregard for emoluments causes. They ignore the hatch act. They self deal. They lock kids in cages and in trap asylum-seekers calling them illegal when what they are doing is legal.

.@GovernorVA,

I get that wants to put the past in the past, but this isn’t something that can just be forgiven and forgotten. A truly responsible candidate should be expected to disclose this, and find some way to explain it to the public. It being exposed shows you hoped it wouldn’t come out or you didn’t think it required any explanation or amends. You betrayed the trust of the people. I’m not from Virginia.
I’m a lifelong Democrat.

I am Jewish.
I am an ally to people of color.

My 2 cent review:
1) It was authentically passionate, and we need more of that, from our elected officials (as opposed to fake outrage)

2) He often sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. Maybe elocution lessons would be good for reps? Personal decision. 3) He could have used an outline. It seemed like he went off on tangents, and a more strict outline of his point, would have kept him on message. Going after Ted? Sure. But also line him up with their leader McConnell. Bring it back to a duty of country over party.
