A 🧵in defence of using (Powerpoint) slides in lessons.

Keep seeing anti-PP posts but unsure of reasons why they're so bad. I suspect it's a case of badly used slides are bad.

So here's a thread to defend them, especially in RE..... 1) Repeated content
I teach the same lesson 4 times in a fortnight. Preprepared slides help me from doing the same thing 4 times over e.g. starter questions. It saves me time. Image

I won't be applying for some amazing opportunities being advertised but I will share what I would've written in an application....🧵

I would focus 'everything' in a school on learning and keep it as the core language for everything that happens. Homework - supports learning. Incomplete homework reduces learning. That learning needs to happen at another time.

Assessment - checks for learning. It shows what you have/haven't learnt. It's not about marks/grades. Mock exams with huge focus on learning.
