Cyber Security Update 🧵

1. SideWinder APT Group🇮🇳 has released a dataset in their Telegram channel ontaining 10 folders and 681 files on the purported intrusion into NTDC🇵🇰.

2. Files include source codes, tripping control passwords, grid station layouts, etc. 3. They also include Single Line Key Diagrams and a few official documents apparently uploaded by staff from WhatsApp.

4. Contents of the dataset are of very sensitive nature and raise multiple question marks around basic secure computer use practices.

Cyber Security Update 🧵

1. SideWinder APT Group🇮🇳 posted screenshot of what appears to be NTDC's Grid Station Info System🇵🇰.

2. They claim modifying original data to initiate a 'frequency change', misleading human operators to feed wrong pulse hence nationwide power outage. Image 3. These claims and the screenshot were shared in one of the group's known Telegram channels.

4. The screenshot appears to be legitimate, however I am personally unable to verify the authenticity of claims.

🧵 The lack of concensus among parliamentary parties in Pakistan to sit together and engage in informed debates on natsec issues is itself a major threat to internal security. This is clearly dereliction of duties. If politicians being policymakers cannot review and define lines of action, they cannot hold others responsible for trying to fill the gap. The one and only obsession is to save party face, viciously defend own alliances and prepare for pre-electoral campaigning.

Hello @CCP_Pakistan

Thank you for taking notice of malicious and illegal loan sharks marketing themselves deceptively to target unsuspecting victims into never-ending debt traps.

This thread contains links to some of my open source investigation reports on the matter. 'AiCash':

🧵 The idea of establishing a 'Homeland Security' dept in Pak (along US lines) is fundamentally flawed, esp in view of the bureaucratic systems of the Indian Subcontinent tinged with colonial rigidities.

(1/n) NACTA has been switched on and off again by multiple political leaderships out of expediency and most importantly, lack of thought. The interest simply wasn't there since the armed forces were presumed to have the exclusive CT mandate.

🧵 Notable excerpts from an interview with Col (R) Munishwar Nath "Hunny" Bakshi, former CO of Indian MI's covert 'Tech Services Div (TSD)' that carried out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

(1/n) Bakshi says that post 26/11, then Indian PM Manmohan Singh was 'perturbed' and tasked his NSA M.K. Narayan to see if a response can be given to Pak. It was shared with then COAS Gen Deepak Kapoor who further directed the DGMI Lt Gen R.K. Loomba to share options.

🧵 Excerpts from former Chinar Corps Commander and DG DIA Lt Gen (R) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon's interview to Smita Prakash of ANI (31 Oct 2022).

Selected remarks in verbatim mentioned in quotes, followed by my comments.

1/n
Dhillon refuses to accept Pulwama as an intel failure, claims "there is a whole nation behind this, a proper regular army behind this" (accusing Pak of sponsoring perpetrators).

🧵 The US Dept of Defence (DoD) has released the 2022 National Defence Strategy (NDS).

First things first, as in the National Security Strategy (NSS) released earlier, Pakistan finds no mention at all.

Observations/ comments from a Pakistani perspective:

1/n Image The DoD reaffirms India as a 'Major Defence Partner' and explicitly mentions enhancing its ability "to counter PRC aggression" and ensuring 'freedom of navigation' in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

This is more clear than the implicit language in the NSS (White House)...

Another long march, another uncertain period of choked traffic in the twin cities. Businesses should shut down and set up shop outside Pakistan. Employees will be humiliated as usual as their workplace managers won't give af to the situation outside. Image The usual crap:-

1. Containers on junctions.
2. Constabulary patrolling the streets.
3. Bosses giving ultimatums to reach work on time 'no matter what'.
4. Biz owners paying rent for commercial spaces/ shops without being able to access them.

🧵 Open source satellite imagery confirms location of dead bodies left to rot openly on the roof of Nishtar Medical University (NMU), Multan. The specific building belongs to the Department of Anatomy.

Coordinates: 30°12'9.01"N, 71°26'28.24"E

See my markings below: Examining 18 years of available historical imagery (2004-2022) indicates presence of multiple objects around the same spot where these bodies were found, some of them of similar dimensions as a human body. See the video below:

🧵 The Biden Administration has just released the 2022 National Security Strategy.

Some observations of interest from a Pakistani perspective.

1. 'Pakistan' isn't mentioned anywhere. A humbling reminder of its dwindling significance in Washington's security outlook ⬇️ Image 2. India is declared a key partner for the 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)' policy. Washington aims to work bilaterally to this end, as usual, but also sustain 'multilaterally', perhaps an implicit reference to the Quad. Image

I've struggled with depression because of multiple setbacks in academic life. If you've done Matriculation in Lahore, you'll know just how tough the competition for merit can get... I was just another "burger boy" from the UAE when we moved to Pakistan (that's what some class fellows in The Educators called me). It was late 2002 and our family status had changed from 'uber-privileged' to 'broke'...

Are bags of wheat donated to flood victims being sold in Sindh? Let's dig deeper to find out using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT).

As always, I will refrain from subjective presumptions and focus strictly on available evidence.
